The Internet of Things has become a crucial part in businesses and organisations across the globe. India, due to its diverse experience, solutions and close collaboration with market leaders and strategists has become a premier hub in integrating IoT.
Pacific Controls is one out of the many companies that has appeared as a world leader in IoT enabled services. Founded by Kerala-based Dilip Rahulan, the UAE-headquartered firm is today at the forefront of platform, data infrastructure and service delivery innovation for enterprise and publically managed solutions where convergence of networked computing, large scale data management with real time machine intelligence is driving the integration of the physical and virtual worlds.
Pacific Controls’ strategy reflects the importance of three critical elements: end-to-end managed solutions delivery; a new generation of real-time machine intelligence platform and large-scale ecosystem collaboration. Together these system elements leverage intelligent sensors, equipment’s and assets to enable radical new models of value creation and services delivery.
Moreover, the company provides intelligence at both the hardware and software levels. Unlike other players and solutions in the market that are isolated and narrowly focused, Pacific Controls’ capabilities encompass the comprehensive and transformative nature of machine-to-machine, the IoT, and smart systems.
Dilip Rahulan has been serving as an Executive Chairman and CEO of Pacific Controls from the last 21 years. Despite the Australian citizenship, he shifted his business to several cities in UAE, where he also became an influential person. Until 2016, Rahulan’s Pacific Controls was regarded as one of The Emirates most successful businesses, building on a new relationship with Microsoft formed in 2015.
Rahulan was also listed as one of the “Top 100 Indian Leaders in the UAE”. Last year, he was invited to the Loka Kerala Sabha, a convention organised by the Kerala government for Non-resident Keralites. Through his firm, Dilip Rahulan partnered with the leading product OEMs, carriers, service providers, governments and diversified enterprises.
In the recent years, a case of fraud was filed against Rahulan and his company in Dubai. Pacific Control Systems (PCS) also filed a complaint to a New Jersey court against the Emirates Investment Authority (EIA), the Dubai sovereign fund, and Etisalat, the country’s telecoms monopoly, in late July. Experts believe that like many other Indians, Rahulan too has become another victim of ‘Interpol Red Notices’.
In 2016, Rahulan became one of the influential speakers invited at the Future Technology Week event held at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). The event housed several interactive features such as a live hackathon for innovative developers, designers and entrepreneurs to pitch and build prototype solutions for smart transportation, smart environment and smart cities, as well as a one-day, code-cracking Capture The Flag competition where developers, engineers and code breaking enthusiasts will vie for cash prizes.
In the wake of pressing challenge of surviving digital transformation, Rahulan’s Pacific Controls became an important firm helping to drive the digital and innovation-led economy of the Middle East. Moreover, providing internships to ethical hackers became a plus point for the company’s expansion. Pacific Controls also was a Keynote Sponsor for the Internet of Things Expo (IoTX) in 2016.
When it comes to outsourcing, Middle Eastern nations are used to looking towards their closest neighbours. They have been the early adopters of digitisation plans in the Internet of Things era. Further Indian actors are equally putting in efforts to expand and capture the Middle Eastern intelligence and surveillance market.
